This is one of the most frequently asked questions. The honest truth is that shipping timelines and costs are highly variable from one project to the next.

As a pledge management platform, BackerKit helps creators with collecting backer information, managing surveys, and processing payments. We are not involved in the manufacturing or fulfillment of rewards, or calculating shipping, VAT, or tax.

It's important to remember that when you make a pledge, the reward may not yet exist. After a campaign is successfully funded, the creator begins working with manufacturers to produce the product, and calculate shipping once closer to fulfillment. Therefore, the creator is the sole source of information regarding their production schedule, manufacturing status, shipping timeline, and shipping costs. If you'd like a more specific shipping timeline or cost estimate, please contact the project creator team directly.

What You Can Do

Here are the best ways to get updates on your order, estimated shipping cost(s), or an approximate ship date:

• Campaign page: For information on an approximate shipping timeline and estimated shipping or VAT costs, check the main campaign page for a section labeled "Fulfillment" or "Shipping". Always check this before pledging!

• Check the campaign’s Project Updates page. This is where creators post news about production progress, delays, shipping cost, charge dates, survey lockdown, and shipping timelines. It’s the most reliable source of up-to-date information for your specific project.

  

• Check Pledge Level Descriptions: This is where creators will post details about what items are included with a pledge, as well as other pertinent information, often including an estimated ship date, and if shipping will be collected later.

• Check the FAQ: Page The FAQ of a campaign page is often rich with information regarding what to expect during the campaign, including estimated shipping timelines.

• Watch for a shipping confirmation email. When your order ships, you’ll receive an email with your tracking information. Make sure the email address on your BackerKit account is current.

Production and shipping delays are common in crowdfunding, especially for first-time creators navigating manufacturing for the first time. Global supply chain disruptions, customs, and logistics challenges can all affect timelines. If a project is running behind its original estimate, our expectation at BackerKit is that creators keep consistent communication on their updated timeline.
