What should I do when I receive a Data Deletion request?
Someone may reach out to you directly if they would like their sensitive personal identifying information removed.
As the Data Controller, you can comply with their request by navigating to the "Privacy" Tab from your Settings page on a project and entering their email address in the "Remove Personal Identifying Data per GDPR" form.
This will cancel any pledges associated with this backer and will not perform any refunds. Feel free to reach out to the Backer if you believe they may have mistakenly requested their data removal
If you have given this data to any Sub-Processors, you may also want to remove their data there.
If BackerKit receives a request ourselves, we will we have already removed any data for which we act as the Data Controller including but not limited to a BackerKit Backer Account.
We will then forward the request to you as well as inform the backer that we have forwarded their request. If you still need personal identifiable information to fulfill their order, it may be good to reach out to the backer to confirm their intention.
