BackerKit Trivia Challenges
Trivia Challenges are a fun and new way to engage with the creators and fans of projects you love. To participate, make sure to vote in any open trivia questions before time runs out throughout the campaign! Correct answers help you (or your team!) climb the leaderboard.
What is it?
Trivia Challenge is a way for your backers to team up and engage with your project and each other via some friendly competition. Backers can track their individual performance and the performance of their team on the Trivia Challenge tab of the project. Each team member’s correct answer goes toward the whole team’s place on the per-team leaderboard.
This feature involves a series of multiple choice trivia questions, challenges or riddles in the form of polls released by you (the creator) over the course of the campaign. Releasing them means setting up the poll, giving it a correct answer and publishing it to your community. You will also need to set an end date for the poll, at which point the correct answer is revealed and the poll is “closed” for future challengers. You can even attach Polls to Project Updates!
Each correct answer from a backer gets them one point, which will raise their spot on the leaderboard to gain clout in the community. Should you choose to offer your backers rewards for their performance in the Trivia Challenge, it will also bring them closer to that reward.

How can I set it up?
Email crowdfunding@backerkit.com (or your BackerKit Campaign Manager). We’ll send you a link to begin setting up Trivia Challenge.
Next Steps:
Once enabled, you'll find the Trivia Challenge page under 'Engagement' on your crowdfunding dashboard. First step, create your Team Badge Poll.
- Write a “Call to Action” asking your backers to pick their team – something like “Choose your team!”
- This question will be revealed as soon as a backer pledges to your campaign
- Input your preferred team names and upload the corresponding team badges
- This badge will show up next to your backers' names when they engage in community and next to their names on any leaderboard
- This badge will show as a 12x12 pixel image so simpler is better.
After you have set up each of your teams, it's time to come up with the trivia that these teams will compete for knowledge of!
Trivia Polls Setup
Create Poll Questions for your Trivia, you can set these up ahead of time and save them as drafts.
Once you've written out the choices, you should check two boxes:
- First one says "Hide the results until the poll is over" (so that nobody cheats by going with the most popular option).
- Second step is to check the box for "This poll has a correct answer". That will allow you to choose which of the poll options is right for your lore, which will give everyone who selects that right answer a point!
Once those are set up and published, you have enabled Trivia Challenge for your project. This will be accessible on the Campaign Page (next to the Community tab) once your project is live.
Distributing Incentives via Pledge Manager
After your campaign has successfully ended, your Success Manager will be able to create Segments of the winning teams so you can apply the prizes.
