Troubleshooting Common Issues

Code not working

  • Wait for a new code: Sometimes, the code generated by your authenticator app or sent via SMS may expire. Wait for a new code and try again.
  • Check time settings: Ensure that the time settings on your device are correct. Authenticator apps use time-based codes, and incorrect time settings can lead to codes not working.
  • Re-sync your authenticator: Some authenticator apps allow you to manually resynchronize your accounts. Try this option in your app settings.
  • Recovery codes: When setting up 2FA you received a list of backup codes. To use them, click "I lost my authentication device," and enter one of these codes to access your account.

Let's start with the good news. You should still be able to complete your survey without needing to log in using the special link sent to your email. Find my survey »

  • If you aren't able to access your codes, the quickest solution moving forward would be for you to create a new Backerkit account using a different email address. Please reach out to Support once this is complete, and we can transfer all of your prior surveys to that email.
  • Otherwise, if you would like to retain the same email address, we will need to proceed with an identity verification process with our Trust & Safety team, which will require you uploading identity documents through a secure portal. We do not have access to your codes for security purposes.

Contact support: If you continue to have issues after using your backup codes, or cannot find your backup codes, contact support for further troubleshooting.
