Mature ("NSFW") content

BackerKit allows creators to include mature or “Not Safe For Work” (NSFW) content in their projects. This could include elements like violence, nudity, or sexual content. However, all content on BackerKit is subject to review. If it doesn’t align with our content guidelines, or the policies of our payment partners or third-party services, it may be flagged or removed.

BackerKit users can customize their NSFW content preferences by clicking this link.

Definitions of "Not Safe For Work" (NSFW) content

These definitions are intended to clarify BackerKit’s interpretation of different categories of NSFW content. Some of these definitions may seem obvious, but are intended to ensure a shared expectation of what is considered appropriate or prohibited.

  • Nudity: Photography, illustrations, or other depictions that reveal uncovered parts of the human body, such as genitals, buttocks, or breasts.
  • Sexual content: Depictions that involve nudity or sexual situations where the primary purpose is narrative, artistic, educational, or thematic. (e.g.; a story-centric sex scene in a comic book, anatomical illustrations in educational materials.)
    • Sexual acts: Any depictions of sexual intimacy. This could include portrayals of intercourse or other forms of intimate physical interaction.
  • Violence: The depiction of physical harm, aggression, or destructive actions intended to inflict pain, injury, or damage.
    • Extreme violence: Graphic, explicit, or disturbing portrayals of physical harm, injury, or death. (e.g.: depictions of brutality, torture, mutilation, and violence designed to shock or provoke fear.)
  • Pornography: Material that exclusively focuses on explicit sexual content or acts that cannot be categorized as narrative, artistic, or educational. It includes, but is not limited to, explicit images or videos that emphasize sexual acts, genitalia, or other explicit mature content. In compliance with our payment partners and other third-party services, BackerKit prohibits the inclusion of pornographic content in any project.

Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)

BackerKit has a zero-tolerance policy regarding Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). This includes any content—such as illustrations, comics, images, videos, or written descriptions—that depicts minors in a sexualized context. Our guidelines also prohibit any attempt to ambiguously or deceptively represent minors in an adult context.

BackerKit cooperates fully with law enforcement and relevant organizations to address and report CSAM (https://report.cybertip.org/). If such content is flagged, we will take immediate action to remove it and support investigations by the appropriate authorities.
