BackerKit policies and guidelines

A simplified summary of our Terms of Service and policies.

❌ Illegal or harmful activities

• No projects promoting hate, harassment, or discrimination against protected groups.
• No weapons, explosives, drugs, or other items that violate local or international law.
• No gambling, lotteries, or raffles tied to pledges.
• No content that promotes violence, self-harm, or misinformation.
• No unsafe or unlicensed products that violate health or safety standards.

❌ Deceptive or fraudulent behavior

• No false claims, bait-and-switch tactics, or misleading information.
• No plagiarism, impersonation, or stolen intellectual property.
• No spam, bot-generated content, or fake accounts.

❌ AI-generated content

• AI-generated content is strictly not allowed on crowdfunding projects.

❌ Misuse of personal data

• No uploading contact lists without explicit, opt-in consent from every recipient.
• No using backer data for anything beyond project-related communication and fulfillment.
• No selling, sharing, or misusing personal information.

❌ Financial or fulfillment misconduct

• Don’t launch a project unless you have a realistic plan to fulfill.
• No raising funds for unfinished, nonexistent, or unfeasible products.
• No using funds to pay off unrelated debt or past project failures without transparency.
• No unauthorized payment methods or routing through banned platforms.

❌ Restricted content

• Adult content is allowed on BackerKit, but:
  • It must be clearly labeled, restricted to 18+, and presented responsibly.
  • Non-consensual, exploitative, or otherwise harmful content is strictly prohibited.
• Other restricted categories:
  • Financial products like crypto, NFTs, or lending platforms
  • Counterfeit goods or knockoffs
  • Multi-level marketing or pyramid schemes
  • Spyware, malware, or surveillance tech

❌ Inactivity or project abandonment

• Creators must stay responsive and provide regular updates to backers.
• No long-term silence, refusal to engage, or avoiding accountability.
