Streaming on BackerKit
Live streaming is a great way to connect with your supporters in real time. You have the opportunity to integrate live streaming into your project, bringing your project to life for both your current backers and potential future fans.
When you set up streams for your project, the stream will take over project card where the project image typically is, and will also be visible on the Community tab. Backers can participate in the local streaming platform chat straight from BackerKit, or comment on the stream via BackerKit if they don't have a streaming platform account.
How to find the stream ID
BackerKit supports Twitch, Youtube, and Moonbeam embedding for streaming.
For Twitch: If you are streaming from https://www.twitch.tv/cephalofair,
→ your stream ID is cephalofair
For Youtube: If you are streaming from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aAiCzcFqCM or https://www.youtube.com/live/8aAiCzcFqCM
→ your stream ID is 8aAiCzcFqCM
For Moonbeam: If you are streaming from https://www.moonbeam.stream/streams/gencontv
→ your stream ID is gencontv
Setting Up your Stream
- Enter a title for the stream so your backers know what you will be talking about in the stream.
- Enter a start time. At this time, the streaming module will start showing on your BackerKit project.
- OPTIONAL: Enter an end time for when you want the streaming module to be removed from your page. If you aren't sure when you will end, feel free to leave this blank! Once you are done streaming you can manually end any stream from the Streaming section in the admin dashboard.
- OPTIONAL: To save the recording of this stream in BackerKit, you can enter the Youtube embed code of the recording in the Recording of Stream field. If this field is filled out, the recording of your stream will always be available to backers in the community tab of your project.
Let Your Community Know
Your project followers will receive a notification about this stream approximately one hour before it starts.
Additionally, you can publish an update to let your project followers know about your upcoming streaming schedule and the reasons they should tune in.
