How do I setup region specific codes for my backers?

If your campaign is offering digital download codes for console video games, you will need to keep in mind that certain companies (Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo) require that you distribute these codes based on region. As a result, you will want to be sure that when your backers go through their survey, they are asked which region code they would like to receive. Not doing so could potentially delay digital fulfillment or require your backers to complete their surveys a second time if this information was not added beforehand.

Create a pledge question

In your pledge manager, when creating your region-specific SKUs, you will use the item generator under Set Up Items to generate these SKUs

On the Item Generator page, press "Set Up A New Item":

From here, you will add the name of your reward and check that the reward is digital:

After this, you will check that the reward has options and create two options. Console name and Region:

Once done, check the boxes if this reward was offered in pledge levels, sold as an add-on during the campaign and whether or not you want to sell additional copies in backer's surveys.

After all this, press "Confirm & Generate" and then you will be all set!

If offering Steam Keys or other non-region specific codes

Once your SKUs are generated and you have your add-ons and pledge questions in place, you may want to add non-region-specific SKUs to these rewards. Examples being Steam, GOG or Itch.io codes. As such, you will need to manually enter these SKUs to the pledge questions and add-ons that were generated using the item generator.

Add-ons

On the left-hand side of your pledge manager, head to Customize Add-ons and find the add-on you generated. Once there, scroll down until you see the Variants section:

From here, you are going to manually add the non-region-specific names and SKUs. The names will be what the backer sees on the drop downs while they are going through the survey, and the SKUs will be what is added to their cart once they confirm their selection. These should match to make sure the backer is getting the correct reward.:

Once done, press "Save"

Pledge questions

On the left-hand side of your pledge manager, head to Pledge Questions and find the pledge question (s)you generated. Once there, click "Edit" on the pledge question and scroll down until you see the Answer Choices section:

From here, you will want to add follow the same previous steps we did for the add-ons by adding our non-region-specific SKUs:

After adding the SKUs, click "Save." If the reward appears multiple times within a pledge level, each instance will generate its own pledge question. You'll need to repeat the same steps outlined above for each additional pledge question that was generated.
