How do I distribute Steam codes through BackerKit?

If you plan to offer Steam codes as a reward for your campaign it is important to request the keys in advance and make sure you have them in hand before launching your campaign.

We recommend getting in touch with the Steam team to open the lines of communication and to understand any limitations. You can reach out to Steam directly if you have any questions about your campaign or whether your key request would be approved.

To request keys, click the "Request Steam Product Keys" button on your application's landing page in Steamworks and follow the steps. If you do not see that button, your account does not have the “Generate Steam Keys” permission. You can read more about permissions here.

Once you have the Steam keys and are ready to distribute you can use the BackerKit Digital Distribution feature to upload the keys.
