How do I receive funds on BackerKit Crowdfunding and in BackerKit Pledge Manager?

BackerKit uses Stripe to process payments from backers. A Stripe account is required to launch on BackerKit Crowdfunding (Stripe Express) and for use of BackerKit's Pledge Manager (Stripe Connect).

PayPal is a secondary option, available for the pledge manager only, if you have a PayPal Premier or Business Account. Both Stripe and PayPal handle credit card processing and securely transfer your backers’ payments directly to you.

Stripe and PayPal support a growing list of currencies and a variety of payment types:

Note: Only the account owner can set up Stripe payments.

Create or connect your Stripe Express account to process pledges

  1. On your crowdfunding dashboard, navigate to Payment Setup on the left hand side.
  2. Click 'Connect to Stripe'
  3. Follow instructions in Stripe Portal and enter required information to create account
  4. Subsequent projects launched on BackerKit Crowdfunding will automatically transfer this account
  5. Verify the currency is correct.

Note: Only the primary admin can set up payments.

Connect your Stripe account to process payments

To connect Stripe to your BackerKit project:

  1. On the menu on the left, click Set Up Payments
  2. Click Connect with Stripe.
  3. If you already have a Stripe account, click the Sign in link in the top right corner.
  4. If you don’t have a Stripe account, enter the information required by Stripe and create your account.
  5. Verify the currency is correct. 

Set up PayPal to process payments

To connect PayPal to your BackerKit project (only available to creators on the Professional plan):

  1. On the menu on the left, click Set Up Payments.
  2. Click Connect with PayPal.
