- Creators who launch with us are committed and agree to make every reasonable effort to deliver. Rewards go through design, prototyping, manufacturing, quality checks, and global logistics before they land at your door. That’s the journey you’re supporting! 💫
👉🏼 Not funded yet? If a campaign doesn’t reach its funding goal, you will not be charged. Simple as that.

- BackerKit is a software platform that the project creator uses to manage their pledge system and conduct surveys for their supporters. We have no involvement in shipping calculations, production, or project fulfillment.
How can I check a creator’s track record before I pledge?
Great question — and we’ve made it easier than ever. BackerKit Crowdfunding now shows creator fulfillment history directly on each project page:
Right below the creator’s name (above the funding goal), you’ll see how many projects that creator has fulfilled in the past. These are reviewed by the BackerKit team (not self-reported) with a list of qualifiers.
Want to dig deeper? Click the creator’s name to visit their profile, where you can browse their previous projects, read backer comments, and check out past project updates. It’s a great way to get a feel for how a team communicates and proof of delivery and backer trust before you pledge.

What happens after I pledge?
We know Crowdfunding can be a little tricky to navigate at first! Here’s the general journey from pledge to doorstep:
- Survey invite — Creators use our Pledge Manager to send ‘'survey’ emails to backers to confirm your rewards, shipping, + more. Keep an eye on your email! These really help creators with aligning & managing order data + item counts perfectly to integrate with their production and fulfillment partners and reducing shipping errors.
- Production — Once surveys + counts are in, the creator works with manufacturers to bring the rewards to life. This stage can take months to years, depending on the project. You can find estimates under Pledge Levels, Project Updates, FAQ’s, and usually a ‘Shipping’ or ‘Fulfillment’ section on the campaign page. Contact the project creator team for confirmation.
- Shipping charge — Closer to fulfillment, shipping, tariffs, and tax/VAT costs may be collected separately via your BackerKit survey. The exciting part is that once that charge hits, you know you’re getting closer!
- Your reward ships! 🎉 — If applicable, you’ll get a tracking email when your order is on its way!.
💡 Always check the project’s updates page for the latest shipping timelines. Delays can happen in crowdfunding — sometimes due to manufacturing hiccups, sometimes global logistics. Creators are expected to keep backers informed through their Updates page.
Before you back: things worth reviewing
Every campaign is a little different. Before pledging to any project, we recommend taking a few minutes to look over:
- The project’s policies, usually listed in the FAQ, or a call-out section in the side-bar
- Estimated shipping timelines, and reading the campaign page fully
- Shipping costs and whether they’re included or charged later
- The creator’s fulfillment history (right there on the project page!)
