Advanced Segment Actions

You can access these advanced segment actions by going to the Segments page on the left sidebar menu of your project, and clicking ‘Advanced Segment Actions’ in the top right corner: 

When you click this link, it will take you to pre-created segment actions that you can use for your project: 


Advanced segments on average can take up to 1 hour to be created, however, depending on the number of backers in your project, can take longer. When the segment is created, you will see them on the segments page.


Here is a brief description of each Advanced Segment Action available: 

  • Backers with balance: This makes a segment of all confirmed backers (i.e. backers who submit their survey) with an unpaid balance. with a balance due in BackerKit. The common use cases include:

    - locating backers with a balance due after cards were previously charged in BackerKit (those in Lock Addresses or Start Shipping states) due to updates to shipping fees, taxes, or cost of add-ons
    - locating backers with a balance due after cards were previously charged in BackerKit those in Lock Addresses or Start Shipping states) due to adding in shipping fees when using Charge Shipping Later (beta)If you need to email these backers about adding a payment method to their survey, please contact your success rep for help.
  • Backers with leftover credit: This makes a segment of all backers who have not used all of their allotted funds. This can be used to locate backers that have credit from over-pledging to the campaign.
  • Backers with bounced emails: This makes a segment of all backers with dropped or bounced emails. This is used to see how many backers are not receiving their BackerKit surveys due to their email addresses.
  • Apple ID Backers: This makes a segment of all backers with apple ID relay emails. This is usually the first step in finding how many backers used their Apple ID to sign up for Kickstarter, and are now unable to receive their survey.  If you need to email these backers about changing their email addresses to receive their survey, please contact your success rep for help.
  • Backers who need payment info: This makes a segment of all backers that have completed their survey without credit card info that have shippable SKUs on their order. This can happen if a physical add-on is added to their pledge by an admin, or if you used the Charge Shipping Later (beta) feature and did not mark the physical SKUs 'shippable'. Once you've located the backers that need payment info are located, if you need to email these backers about adding a payment method to their survey, please contact your success rep for help.
