Post Campaign FAQs for BackerKit Topia Participant

Congratulations on your successfully funded project 🎉


My campaign ended, when do backers get charged?

Due to multiple charges per backer during a Topia, backers will be charged every hour per pledge. Ex. If a backer pledged to three projects, they will be charged at hour one for first pledge, hour two for second pledge and hour three for third pledge. This will give extra time for backers to fix their payment method if it fails during the first try, while not triggering fraud alerts with their banks. 


What does it mean for you as a creator?

You may see funds deposited in increments to your Stripe account; however, you probably won’t receive the funds directly into your bank account in increments since payouts are usually within a couple days of actual charging of cards and can take up to 7-14 business days from Stripe.

14 Day Wait

We recommend waiting 14 days after your campaign has ended to send surveys. This is how long backers have to correct any failed payments in BackerKit. In the meantime, feel free to set up your pledge manager project and open up your pre-order store to accept late pledges.

Free Cross-Collaborator Incentives

Cross-collab incentive segment can now be generated using Advanced Segment Actions page. You can access this page by clicking on Segments from the left side navigation bar and clicking on Advanced Segment Actions link that is located on the upper right corner.

We recommend excluding Digital, No Reward and any other Pledge Level that did not qualify for the incentive before applying it to backers' carts. To exclude Pledge Levels, duplicate the Partner Project Segment by using Filters: In these segments —> Partner Project Segment AND In these pledge levels —> Add qualifying pledge levels —> Save.

How about Early Bird or Returning Backer incentives?

If offered, these incentives should be added to qualifying backers’ carts before surveys are sent out.

How are campaign add-ons imported into Pledge Manager?

We have a new feature that will help ‘inject’ add-ons into backers’ carts. Please use the Item Generator to create all items with SKUs, apply them to pledge levels if applicable, and create add-ons.

We recommend creating add-ons for all items created with the Item Generator, you’ll be able to delete them later. 

Once items are created, navigate to the Campaigns Add-ons page and complete the setup for campaign add-ons.

Can you message backers on BackerKit?

No, we do not have messaging capability in BackerKit Crowdfunding. Many creators asked to not have one as it was another inbox to monitor. Once backers import into the pledge manager, you will have access to their email address to send personalized messages if needed.


Instead, we recommend using the Updates feature to communicate important updates with your backers both during and post campaign communication.
