Set up Shipping Fees

When first setting up shipping fees on your project, you will need to choose Whole Order Weight Based Shipping or Stackable Shipping. To understand more about your options for charging shipping fees in BackerKit, check out this help doc.

To set up shipping fees for your project:

  1. On the menu on the left, click 2. Build > Add Shipping Fees.
  2. Choose Whole Order Shipping (recommended) or Stackable Shipping
    1. If you already charged shipping fees during your campaign, you will need to use Stackable
  3. Create your Shipping Regions under the Shipping Regions tab
  4. Create your Shipping Profile(s)
    1. For Whole Order: create a single profile that covers all regions, including Everywhere Else
    2. For Stackable: set your pledge level shipping under the respective tab, and create add-on shipping profiles to cover all of your add-ons as needed (info here)
  5. If any of your shipping profiles are weight-based (Whole Order or Stackable), be sure to add in your item weights via the SKU weights tab

Note: If you charged shipping during the campaign, please make sure these fees match the ones reflected in BackerKit. This will ensure your backers who already paid are not over/under charged.

Once you are done setting up your shipping fees, double check them by using the Preview Survey Tool with various backer scenarios to ensure they are calculating as you intended.

Pro tip: Be sure to charge the correct amount for shipping your rewards by weighing your item and the packaging material, and then determining the cost on your fulfillment partner's website.
